Energizer eZV2000P
When it comes to portable generators, it seems like Honda, Yamaha, and others attract all the attention.

While the brands are good, there are also other generators worth looking at. In this post, I’ll be reviewing the Energizer eZV2000P.

About This Generator: Features

“Advanced” Inverter Tech

This generator offers class-leading inverter dual-wave technology. That means that your sensitive electronics will be safe.

You can charge your cell phone or laptop without worrying about a power surge causing damage.

The energy is clean with both the voltage and current being controlled and a true sine wave output. Many other inverters only modulate the voltage so the dual wave control is something unique and truly valuable. The clean energy is available no matter what size load you are running.

Parallel-Ready Generator

Two energizer ezp2000P generators plugged in parallel

With this twist-lock cable, The eZV2000P becomes parallel-ready and it offers a unique and high-value feature in its parallel capabilities.

With most generators, you can only run two of the same model of a generator in parallel.

The eZV2000P lets you connect any generator within the eZV-series.

This lets you combine the output of two generators and it balances the load based on the size of each generator’s output.

You will have to buy a special cord to connect your eZV generators in order to take advantage of the parallel feature.

Power Output

This generator can provide a lot of power.

The 79cc 4- stroke OHV engine offers 2000 peak watts and 1600 running watts. It runs very smoothly and offers stable power at all loads.

Eco Mode

When you engage the Eco mode by flipping the switch, the engine will automatically throttle to meet the on-demand load.

This ends up saving gas and also extends the life of the engine. It also happens to offer the quietest operation.

Decent Run-Time

A definite advantage of the eZV200P is that it has a long runtime.

This is thanks to its fuel efficiency. When running a full load, the runtime is 4.2 hours.

When running a quarter load, the runtime is 11.5 hours.

For this size of the generator, that is a very good number. You can click here to compare it to other portable generators.

Lightweight and Portable

Weighing in at only 44 lbs, the eZV2000P is extremely portable.

In fact, it is the lightest generator in its class. It has a suitcase-style handle and it’s very easy to carry.

Build Quality

Energizer batteries are the ones that “keep going and going” and that is true for many other Energizer products as well. This generator was really built to last. The construction is solid.

You can expect this to be a very durable generator that will stand up to the test of time, even if it gets a lot of use in different environments.

Energizer backs it up with an impressive 3-year limited warranty.

Noise Level: How Loud Does It Get?

Everyone knows that generators can be loud.

If you’re looking for a generator that isn’t going to annoy your neighbors, the eZV2000P is worth considering (although there are quieter ones out there).

It offers ultra-quiet operation of only 50-59 decibels. For comparison, Yale’s Office of Environmental Health & Safety puts a standard household refrigerator at 55 decibels and puts the background noise of a typical business office at 60.

The eZV2000P will be at its quietest in Eco mode with a lighter load and it will be at its loudest when carrying a full load.

Gas Consumption & Capacity

The eZV200P features a fuel-efficient engine. You’ll be able to tell this right away with the impressively long runtime.

The Eco mode really helps to extend this and maximizes the fuel efficiency.

The gas tank has a capacity of 0.9 gallons. To power the generator, you’ll need unleaded gasoline of Octane 91 or higher.

You should be careful not to use gasoline with an ethanol content greater than 10%, as this can potentially damage the engine.

Service, Manual & Warranty

The manual for the eZV2000P tells you everything you need to know about using the generator and how to take care of it.

It’s clear and easy to understand, something you don’t always find with user manuals.

You can also always connect with the skilled customer service department for technical support.

The manual lays out a schedule of maintenance tasks that you should perform regularly.

Although these tasks can be done by most users at home, you can also have the generator serviced at an authorized service center. anything to modify the machine.

Among the service tasks that need to be completed are changing the oil, servicing the spark plugs, cleaning the fuel line, inspecting the combustion chamber, and cleaning the air filter.

The Energizer eZV2000P has an excellent warranty. The 3-year limited warranty covers parts for all three years and labor for the first year.

As with most warranties, it will be voided if you haven’t followed the recommended maintenance and service schedule or if you have done

Oil Change & Break-In

Before using your eZV2000P for the first time, you’ll need to fill it up with oil.

You should use SAE 10W-30 or SAE Synthetic 5W-30 oil.

The oil tank capacity is 400 ml.

It comes with a handy plastic tool to help you fill up the oil tank, which you access by removing the side panel.

Although you should be good to go once you’ve filled up with both oil and fuel, you can extend the life of the generator by doing a more extensive break-in.

This essentially means running the generator at no load for about an hour, then changing the oil.

This is a good idea because when all engines, there will be some small metal particles that will break off when it first runs.

These could cause damage over time so it’s a good idea to get rid of them by changing the oil right away.

Oil Change on the Ezv2000P

In the manual, it tells you to change the oil after the first 10 hours of use, but a lot of people who understand engines will recommend doing it even sooner.

Some will even recommend that you run the generator for another hour with a partial load and then change the oil again.

At this point, you can use the generator normally and just follow the recommended schedule for changing the oil.

For the eZV200P, that recommended time period is after every 100 hours of use.

Online Customer Reviews and Ratings

As of this writing, there aren’t yet too many Amazon reviews for the eZV2000P.

The reviews there are so far, though, are overall quite positive.

A few reviewers point out how useful the generator was during recent hurricanes like Maria. Among the positives that these happy buyers point out are the fuel efficiency and long run time, the quiet operation, and the easy maintenance.

A few unhappy reviewers said that the generator stopped working after not too long.

Without more information, it’s hard to say why the generator might have stopped working.

A happy reviewer does sing the praises of Energizer’s customer service, in the event of any problems.

On YouTube, Generator Power Source compared the eZV2000P with the more popular (and more expensive) Honda EU2000i and found that they performed comparably.

He notes that the Energizer is lighter, just slightly quieter under load, and ran smoother.

Potential Problems & Known Issues

The only known issue to be aware of in particular with this generator is that it won’t operate as well at high altitudes.

This can be dealt with by changing the main nozzle or adjusting the idling screw of the carburetor.

If you live at a high altitude, Energizer recommends that you have an authorized service center modify the carburetor.

With any generator, there are some potential problems to be aware of.

Most of these come down to how faithfully you perform the recommended maintenance as laid out in the manual.

Some potential problems include the generator not starting or the generator running but not powering your appliances.

The manual tells you step by step what to check and what to do if you do encounter any of these problems.

If this troubleshooting doesn’t work, you’ll need to get in contact with Energizer and you may need to take it to an authorized dealer.

In My Opinion: Should You Buy It?

There are some generators on the market, like the Honda EU2000i, that just have a good reputation and have become known as a trustworthy standard piece of equipment.

While the Honda and similar models are great, that doesn’t mean they are the only ones worth considering.

The Energizer eZV2000P easily holds its own when compared to models like the Honda.

In fact, it stands out because it is quieter, lighter, and cheaper!

If you’re looking for a reliable and quiet inverter generator at an affordable price, you should definitely consider buying the Energizer eZV2000P.

Conclusion

The Energizer eZV2000P stands out in several ways. It’s extremely quiet. It’s the lightest portable generator in its class and features an easy-carry handle. Its unique inverter technology features a dual wave approach that controls both the voltage and the current, resulting in clean and safe sine wave energy. Last but not least, it’s a lot more affordable than some comparable models and it comes with a great warranty.  Have you used the eZV2000P?
