My EcoFlow River 600, and Max, Review After 6+ Months

Last Updated on October 16, 2022 by Manager Access

Nowadays, we all rely on tech gadgets to power our lives. The dependence on tech is why you must always be ready for an outage with a power bank.

EcoFlow began on Kickstarter and Facebook intending to develop new power banks and technology that could run without fuel and required less upkeep. This Kickstarter led to the development of the solar-powered EcoFlow power station and the impressive EcoFlow Delta 1300.

Ecoflow River 600 vs Max & 600 Pro

The EcoFlow River 600 Series consist of the Ecoflow Delta River 600, the River 600 Max, and the River 600 Pro, all of which use solar power to charge their power banks. Each portable power station can efficiently replace the generators of the past. These gadgets are lightweight, efficient, and easy to use.

So, which power station is the best for you?

This review covers everything you need to know to find the right portable power station for you. There’s a lot to review, so let’s explore your options.

The EcoFlow River 600

The EcoFlow River 600 provides a modern solution for power. Solar panel generators aren’t brand new to the scene, so it might seem like this device isn’t revolutionary. However, most older solar options take significantly longer to recharge. The Delta River 600 faces no such problem.

New Ecoflow 600
I like the top handle on the River 600. Its larger Delta 1300 cousin looms in the background.

Besides the fast charging capabilities, the EcoFlow River 600 boasts an eco-friendly design. Unlike the gas generator of the past, there are no toxic fumes with the solar River 600. The solar panel ensures clean energy. Another strength? These power banks are silent.

This EcoFlow generator minimizes air pollution and noise pollution. If you’re exploring the states and camping, you’ll appreciate the absence of excessive humming or buzzing. You can also select your preferred noise level from the EcoFlow app.

The upkeep of a solar charger is also far less hassle than a gas generator as it requires no fuel. The River 600 generator doesn’t even require replacement parts, and its lightweight feel makes it perfect for outdoor excursions.

How to Charge The River 600

There are 3 ways to charge the River 600:

  1. AC Power (250W input)
  2. Solar Power (200 watts)
  3. 12v/24v Cigarette Adapter

Here’s a quick video I made showing each way to recharge or charge your River 600:

HOW DO YOU CHARGE âš¡ Your EcoFlow River 600?

How many amp-hours (Ah) is the River 600?

The River 600 is a 20 (Ah) battery pack, at 14.4 volts. 10 amp-hours (Ah) at 28.8 volts. The EcoFlow River 600 doesn’t list the amp-hour (Ah) rating. So, I take the Watt-hours and with some battery math magic, calculate the Ah of the EcoFlow River 600 (+ Max) and compare it to the Jackery 300 in this video:

HOW MANY AMP HOURS âš¡ (Ah) is the EcoFlow River 600?

The Jackery 300 vs River 600

I made a short comparison video between the Jackery 300, and the River 600. I love both of these li-ion generators, but if I had to pick one, well, just watch the video to see who I pick!

I HAVE TO CHOOSE: Jackery 300 or EcoFlow River 600???

What I like about the Jackery 300:

  1. The ergonomics, fits in my backpack, thin
  2. The quiet charging
  3. The sub $300 price.

What I dislike about the Jackery 300:

  1. The slower charge time
  2. The external AC charger
  3. Can’t run higher wattage appliances

What I like about the River 600:

  1. Charging SPEED!!!
  2. Run anything (Hairdryer / Tea Kettle / Heater)
  3. No external AC adapter

What I dislike about the River 600:

  1. It’s THICK, not super aesthetically pleasing
  2. Loud when charging and in general
  3. More expensive, $50 more than Jackery 300

Verdict

The base-level River 600 generator from EcoFlow is an efficient piece of kit, charging anything you need. It has a discreet design, requires no upkeep, and is noiseless and lightweight. If you want to replace your clunky gas generator, this could be the one.

The EcoFlow River 600 Max

  1. Hello – can the EcoFlow River Max be used either without the app, or remotely with the app. My in-laws want one but don’t have any sort of mobile devices that support an app. Can they use an EcoFlow anyway, or can I control it remotely? Thank you,
